Hurt Locker
Since the Hurt Locker won nine awards at the Academy Awards this year, I decided to write a blog about this movie. The Hurt Locker was written by Mark Boal, directed by Kathryn Bigelow, and produced by Kathryn Bigelow, Mark Boal, Greg Shapiro, and Nicolas Chartier. This movie is an American War movie which was created in 2009. The main characters in the movies are soldiers whose jobs are to disarm bombs in the middle of combat, in Baghdad. After the leader, Sergeant Matt Thompson, is killed by a bomb, Sergeant William James takes over, who is known as a crazy leader. James is one who loves the thrill of disarming bombs, while many of his fellow soldiers just want to finish up their term and survive. At the end of the movie when James is home, he is son, who is just an infant, and tells the son that there is only one thing that he loves. James then decides to take on another 365 days of service for the EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal). Overall, this is a powerful movie which shows a new perspective to war, where soldiers are shown as being addicted to war.

This movie looks really god and I can’t wait to watch it. I’m really into war movies and reality. I do think that soldiers can get addicted to war when they are so into their own country and get obsessive to protect their country. So I can’t wait to see the effects and what they came up with in this movie. I hope it’s good! After all it did win nine awards at the Academy Awards.
ReplyDeleteI have already seen this film and I thought that it was very good, especially in its ability to depict war in the new fasion that it did. The psychological stresses of soldiers and the effect that war has on men seems to be the greater focus in contrast with other war movies that are all about blood and violence. Although this was an exeptional movie, Saving Private Ryan still remains the number one war movie in my eyes.
