Kathryn Elizabeth Hudson was born on October 25, 1984 in California. Kathryn is better known as Katy Perry, a popular singer and songwriter. Katy Perry first signed with a label, Red Hill, a Christian music label, and recorded an album with them when she was only 15 years old. After she signed with a few more labels, in 2007 Perry eventually signed with Capitol Music Group. Katy Perry’s first popular single “I Kissed a Girl” was released on May 6, 2008 and became number one on the Billboard Top 100, which it remained for seven weeks. Some of Perry’s awards and nominations including: “I Kissed a Girl” which was nominated Best Female Pop Vocal at the 2009 Grammy Awards, 5 nominations at the MTV Music Video Awards, etc. “I Kissed a Girl” and “Hot N’ Cold” both earned a three time platinum on February 9,2009 by the Recording Industry Association of America for having over three million digital sales. Perry’s personal life includes a point in time where she was dating lead singer of Gym Class Heroes, Travis McCoy, but this relationship ended in December 2008. Perry is currently engaged to Russell Brand.
