Billy Madison

Billy Madison is a comedic film that was released in 1995. This movie stars Adam Sandler, Darren McGavin, Bridgette Wilson, and many others. This movie is about Billy Madison, played by Adam Sandler, a 27 year old man who was born into the luxurious life. Since he grew up in this lifestyle he acts in a very uneducated manner, spending his days drinking and being obnoxious. When his father is about to pick someone to take over his hotel business, Billy decides he wants to be the one who gets the job, but his father thinks otherwise. To prove his father wrong, Billy makes a deal that if he graduates from high school, he will be the one to take over the family business. This task seems easy enough until Billy’s opponent, the other guy fighting for the hotel business, sabotages Billy’s efforts to graduate. The movie goes on to tell of his experiences through his school career and people he meets along the way.

Adam Sandler

Seeing as how my blog is about movies and music, I decided to write about one of my favorite actors, Adam Sandler. Sandler was born on September 9, 1966 and is an actor, comedian, singer, musician, screenwriter, and film producer. His film production company is called Happy Madison Productions. Sandler became famous after being very involved in Saturday Night Live, and went on to star in many movies. Some of these movies include Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, Big Daddy, Mr. Deeds, You Don’t Mess With the Zohan, 50 First Dates, and many more. Sandler’s hands are even imprinted in front of the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in LA, California. I really enjoy all his movies, and my favorites are the ones where he plays comedic roles, which is almost all of them. Although some of his recent movies have not been as good and funny, I think that in the future more of his well played and funny movies will be released.

Iron Man 2

Iron Man 2 has been a highly anticipated movie for many American citizens. This movie is a sequel to Iron Man, and was released on May 7, 2010. This movie is based on the Marvel Comics Iron Man character and is the second movie in a planned trilogy. The movie is about Jason Stark, who recently announced to the public that he was Iron Man and is not allowing the government to take his technology that he spent a lot of time on. Stark’s enemy, Ivan Vanko, has made a similar invention to Iron Man and creates problems for Stark. Vanko is seeking revenge for his family’s not-so-good past, including the death of his father who used to work for Stark, and blames it on Stark and his works. This movie continues with fighting scenes, as most American superhero movies do. Iron Man 2 stars Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, and Sam Rockwell. E!News gives this movie an A-, so I would suggest this movie for people interested in action and superheroes.

Mississippi Burning

Yesterday and today in American History class I watched a movie called Mississippi Burning. I chose to write about this particular movie because the hatred in the movie really angered me and made me realize what society was like not too long ago. This movie is based on a true story about the murder or three civil rights workers in the state of Mississippi. FBI agents, played by Gene Hackman and Willem Dafoe, are sent to investigate the murders. They soon realize this task won’t be so easy when they find out that many of the local police are members of the KKK and don’t want to help them find the missing people, since many were involved in the murders. Since no judge in Mississippi would charge the police or any white man for the murder of black men, the FBI had to figure out a way to charge them with something and not let them just get off the hook. Eventually the people involved in the murder were charged in a federal court for civil rights violations. I think people should see this movie because it shows of the hatred that was happening only a few years ago.

Pearl Harbor

Since we recently watched a war movie in class, I thought it would be a good idea to share one of my favorite war movies, Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor was filmed in 2001 by one of my favorite producers, Michael Bay. The cast includes big name stars including Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett, Cuba Gooding Jr, Alec Baldwin, Kate Beckinsale, and Jennifer Garner. This war movie is about the devastating occurrences that happened at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on December 7, 1941. The Japanese army launched an attack on the U.S. naval base located in the Pacific. Many people were killed and much of the fleet was destroyed except for the important destroyers that happened to be away during the time of the attacks. The movie incorporates drama and a love story as well as an emotional response to the bombings by the Japanese. This movie was viewed by many, considering it was one of the highest-grossing films of 2001, with a gross revenue of $449,220,945.

The Hangover

One event that has changed my life is one of the events at camp. When I go to camp, I'm away from my parents for 40 days and have to learn to become independent. At the camp I go to, we do our own laundry and also at points do volunteer service. One of the volunteer services that we did was working at a food bank in L.A. We packaged, sorted, and distributed many donated items to those who are less fortunate then me and my fellow campers. Many of the people that came had on very worn out clothes, many with holes in them. This experience helped me get out of the bubble I live in and see what many people are actually going through in these tough times. Since then, I have volunteered for more activities then I had in the past and I enjoy helping out others.

Hot Tub Time Machine is an American comedy film that was directed by Steve Pink, produced by Matt Moore, John Cusack, Grace Loh, and John Morris. This movie was released on March 26, 2010. This movie is about three friends who have been have recently began to have bad luck. At this very resort, they all get very drunk in a hot tub, and when they wake up they are in the year 1986, they went back in time. When they eventually go back to the year 2010, they see that their lives have changed, for the better, and that they have some luck again. Some of the stars in this movie include John Cusack, Rob Corddry, Clark Duke, Chevy Chase, Crispin Glover, Lizzy Caplan, and Lyndsy Fonseca. E!
